Trillanes and 50 Journalists arrested in another failed Mutiny

29 November 2007

“MANILA, Philippines — (UPDATE 3) More than 50 journalists who covered the takeover of the Manila Peninsula hotel were taken into custody, many of them in handcuffs, by police following the arrest of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV and Brigadier General Danilo Lim and other renegade soldiers early Thursday evening.”

News Crew from both the country’s leading networks, ABC-CBN and GMA, were handcuffed and went under police custody. They, with other 50 more journalists, are sent to NCR Office in Bicutan for interrogation.

Let every person be subject to the governing authorities.

For there is no authority except by God’s appointment, and the authorities that exist have been instituted by God.

So the person who resists such authority resists the ordinance of God, and those who resist will incur judgment (for rulers cause no fear for good conduct but for bad).

Do you desire not to fear authority?

Do good and you will receive its commendation, for it is God’s servant for your good.

But if you do wrong, be in fear, for it does not bear the sword in vain.

It is God’s servant to administer retribution on the wrongdoer.

Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of the wrath of the authorities but also because of your conscience.

Romans 13:1-5

***

Have these people gone beyond borders?

Are they acts justified by their cause?

Is it really freedom of expression?

Is it really for Filipinos?

Is it really for the nation?

“When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice: but when the wicked beareth rule, the people mourn.” Proverbs 29:2.

  1. Thanks a-ding, for the Godly reminder. 🙂
i am happy na maski nandyan ka, concerned ka pa rin sa “Pinas. hat’s off ako sa post mong ito. it’s unbiased. the Bible verses made me ponder once more — especially the last one.

    (Oh Father… heal our land!)

  2. napanood ko to nung thursday…as in…so much in chaos na talaga ang country natin..and all we can do is to pray for peace…hirap maintindihan kung pilit mong uunkatin kung sinong tama, kung sinong papanigan…kasi bawat isa may mabibigat na dahilan, bawat isa may bawat punto..i will add one more question to this post..

“When will unity rest in this country? or will Unity rest here?

i’ll link you up…ganito yung look ng blog ko before…

  3. @ Kuya homebodyhubby:

I also pray that God heals our precious Philippines. But in order for that to happen, Filipinos have to pray earnestly to Him. To Him alone…

    2 Chronicles 7:14

if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

    Thanks my Kuya….

  4. @ random

Thank you sa iyong pagdaan! My heart goes with them. Ngunit rebelyon?

At tanging pwedeng panghawakan ng mga nanniniwala ay “All things work together for the good of those who love Him” Romans 8:28

  6. Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Dang! It seems that Philippine politics is always on self destruct mode and is dragging the entire country down the drain.

    May pag-asa pa.
I believe we need a good ruler and God’s intervention.

  7. Thanks uli, a-ding, for another reminder (Romans 8:28). 😉

i’ve known pastor Ed… on radio. and i had been attending some of DBD’s worship services nung nasa Makati pa sila. hindi “lang” pagmamahal sa Diyos ang laman ng messages nya kundi pati pag-ibig sa sariling bayan. very obvious ito maging sa kanilang mga “cultural redemption” na style of worship.

you’re right there… we should pray earnestly to Him ALONE. at sana laging una ito… hindi sa huli na kung kelan wala na tayong magawa. at talaga namang wala kung “tayo lang” — maski anong “power” pa meron tayo. maski administrative power on one, or the might of the gun on the other.

“Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit…” (Zec 4:6)

Pastor Ed rocks! I agree with him in his preachings and his campaign to redeem indigenous Philippine music and dance to be used for His glory.
Zech 4:6 is one of my favorite declaration verses.

  8. nag-attend ka rin pala ng day by day?

sa Day by Day ako ng nag-OJT pao. sa theatre nila. dulaang Ka.

anyways, if ur free please check out this tag…
